Description:
Our black rice is cultivated in Thailand. They are also known as ‘forbidden rice’ because the nobles in ancient China did not allow the common people to eat these special rice grains. Many people are drawn to black rice for its color, which comes from the antioxidant anthocyanin, also found in fruits like Aronia and blueberries. The taste is slightly nutty, and after cooking, the rice grains turn into a beautiful purplish-lilac color.
Instructions for use and precautions:
Rinse 100 ml of rice with cold water. Add the rice and 200 ml of slightly salted water to a pot and bring to a boil. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and reduce the heat to simmer the rice on low heat. After approximately 50-55 minutes, turn off the heat and let the rice rest, covered, for an additional 10 minutes.
Storage:
Store in a dry and cool place.
