Summer is approaching, bringing with it a new season full
of colour, lightness and the opportunity for renewal – both in body and mind.
It’s a wonderful time of year when we feel more inclined to be outside and active, enjoying all the things summer has to offer – like a refreshing swim, a visit to the Aqua Park, or an early morning walk before the sun gets too strong.
We often find ourselves with more time and motivation to care for ourselves in new ways – and recharge our batteries.
Here, I share my personal highlights and heartfelt reflections from the first half of the year – gathered into a little summer letter for those of you who wish to live a healthier, happier and more balanced life.
A good start to the year – even in a chaotic world
We began the year with hope – the hope that 2025 would bring something new and good. The world can feel chaotic, but that’s exactly why it’s more important than ever to stay grounded. To believe in the good, and to be the ones who spread joy and hope for the future. When you stay true to yourself, it has an effect – a positive one that touches others.
Good health starts at the table
Our eating habits are essential to both our physical and mental wellbeing.
I often say: “Eat well-prepared food in peaceful surroundings.”
When we rely on fast food or skip meals, we lose balance. We may fill ourselves up – but we are not truly nourished.
Food should satisfy us and bring us joy. That’s why it’s so important to choose quality over quantity – and let sugar, white bread and ready meals take up less space in our daily lives.
I personally recommend plenty of vegetables, a little fruit, healthy fats, lean fish and poultry, and wholegrain products.
Chew your food well, eat with awareness – and drink water after your meal, not during. We often have a habit of washing food down, which disrupts nutrient absorption. At the same time, the digestive system misses out on the vital breakdown process that allows the body to make the most of what we eat.

The foods and joys of spring
With spring and the first warm rays of sunshine, it feels natural to move towards a lighter and fresher diet.
Crisp radishes, green asparagus, colourful berries and crunchy carrots belong to this season – and so does the urge to be more active and spend more time outdoors. A daily walk in nature can work wonders.
I love spring! I wake up to birdsong, see butterflies dancing in the light, and feel the energy of nature returning.
It’s nourishment for the soul – and completely free.
Immune support and inner strength
A strong immune system isn’t just about vitamins – it’s also about joy and laughter.
Did you know that just 10 minutes of laughter a day can boost your immune system as effectively as 30 minutes of exercise?
That’s amazing!
So laugh, dance, enjoy life – and remember to give your body what it needs: vitamin C, vitamin D, zinc, magnesium, and perhaps also Q10 and selenium.
I also recommend probiotics and a good multivitamin like Omnimin – especially if you’re active, stressed or sensitive to pollen.
Winter shadows
– and the light you can create yourself
The dark months can weigh us down with fatigue and low spirits. I’ve felt it myself – and met many people who struggle with winter depression. But there’s a lot we can do ourselves – with food, light and loving routines. A banana can lift your mood because it contains tryptophan, which helps produce serotonin. Turmeric is also wonderful for supporting both immunity and mood – while also helping with winter colds and sinus problems.
Everyday movement
– and nature as your ally
I love my walks. It doesn’t have to be a marathon. A peaceful walk in the woods, taking the stairs, a little dancing in the living room – it all counts. You should feel what’s right for you. Movement isn’t about performance – it’s about joy. Dancing can be pure meditation. Have you ever danced yourself happy?
Food as medicine
– even during pollen season
For those who struggle with pollen allergies, spring can be a real challenge. But you can strengthen your defences from within. Vitamin C, probiotics, echinacea and lemon balm can make a big difference. And remember: your gut flora plays a bigger role than most people realise. A healthy gut means a healthy body.
Summertime:
Lightness, pleasure and reflection
Summer is a gift. Use it to create new habits – both on your plate and in your life.
Eat colourful, light, seasonal food. Tomatoes, melon, grilled fish, gazpacho, salads with herbs and olive oil.
Choose simple and good. It’s not just your body that will thank you – your mind will too.
Don’t forget to stay hydrated! We sweat more in the heat, and that means the body needs extra fluids – ideally with added salt and minerals.
One of my summer favourites is coconut water. It’s not just refreshing – it also contains natural electrolytes like potassium, magnesium and sodium, which help restore the body’s fluid balance. At the same time, it’s low in calories and can give you a natural energy boost without the sugar crash.
Other great drinks include water with lemon or a light, cooling herbal tea. Many people benefit from electrolytes during the summer – especially if you sweat a lot or are physically active.
And remember: your supplements don’t go on holiday! Even while travelling, your body needs support. Pack your Q10, probiotics, vitamin D and maybe a bit of magnesium – and don’t forget your sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat.
Presence and the joy of food
Food is more than just nourishment – it’s love, connection and joy.
Let summer be a time to eat more slowly, with gratitude and in the company of those you care about.
Set a cosy table, enjoy your meal, and be present. It makes all the difference.
If you have children or grandchildren at the table, be a good example. Teach them not only what to eat – but how to eat with joy and respect. That’s a lesson worth gold.
The holidays – a new beginning
A holiday is not just a break – it’s a reset.
Use the time to choose your habits consciously. Chew your food with awareness, choose fresh ingredients, and notice the difference.
Eat with those you love, and take time to reflect. Is there something in your life that needs adjusting? Summer is the perfect moment for small (or big) new beginnings.
A little goodbye – for now
These were my highlights from the first six months of the year. Although many of the topics have had a seasonal focus, they are far from limited to one time of year. They can be used – and felt – all year round.
We live in a time marked by unrest and change, which makes it all the more important to turn inward and remind ourselves of what truly matters.
We must not forget to live. Summer is the perfect opportunity to breathe a little deeper, lift your gaze to the sky, and feel the earth beneath your feet.
Life isn’t lived yesterday – or tomorrow. Life is now.
I wish you a summer filled with lightness, energy and lovingly prepared meals.
Laugh, move, eat with joy – and don’t forget your vitamins!
Warm summer wishes,
Anni Dahms
